HatTip: UofM International Robot Plane Competition Team
From CJOB:
A group of M.I.T. students turned out to be no match for the University of Manitoba.
Some U of M students entered a military-sponsored international robot plane competition in Maryland, and beat 17 other schools, including M.I.T., Cornell, and a university from Istanbul.
The Manitoban team took first place overall, and first place in the flight category.
The purpose of the flying portion of the contest was to create a unmanned aircraft to be launced by radio control, which would switch into autonomous control once in flight and be guided by a computer.
The Manitoban plane completed its flight without any human control, including takeoff and landing.
The students were awarded $5,000 for their efforts.

UMSU Day of Action : Monday!!!! Everyone Out
I wish I was in the ‘Peg right now cause I am up for a little bit of protesting, especially when Universities are allowed to just create fees out of nowhere in order to get around a fully funded tuition freeze.
Anyway, UMSU is going to protest next Monday at the Leg’:

If you can be there, make sure you are! …

Presentation to the MSU Inc. Student Representative Assembly
I made one set of presentations to the MSU Inc. Student Representative Assembly.
The first presentation is on HSR Service to McMaster University. This is something that I am very passionate about.
You can read it here: http://www.joeycoleman.ca/msu/HSR.pdf
The second part of the presentation was on the GTAA. I felt it important to start a discussion on the GTAA. To start a discussion, you must have an idea to discuss. I put forth the idea of a GTA-wide U-Pass. I would vote for a GTA-wide U-Pass. I think it is important to discuss and see where it goes. It may be something that is supported, it may not be. At the very least, GTA transit is now on the MSU Inc. radar.

Student Union . CA asks a Great Question Tonight
StudentUnion.ca asks a great question tonight. In reference to the vibrant student democracy in Great Britain:
Now, all this raises the obvious question: why aren’t we seeing anywhere near the same open debate concerning the direction of Canada’s student political groupings? Whether it’s CFS or CASA, one gets the distinct impression that this sort of democracy in action simply doesn’t happen here in Canada.
Read the Article that raises the question above: http://www.studentunion.ca/2006/06/gemma-tumelty-elected-president-of.html …
My Music…. does it really allow you to know what I am doing?
Maybe it does….
A friend just MSN’d me. Pointed out that I am listening solely to Johnny Cash tonight. Said that means I must be working away hard at something.
He is correct.
Ummm…. maybe the My Recent Music script betrays me?
lol
