Upcoming on my GlobeCampus blog this week:
The culture wars come to Canada
Ann Coulter’s visit to Canada is only the first of many American right-wing pundits to Canada. My take on last night’s controversy has been submit to the Globe editors and should be up Wednesday afternoon
University fiduciary responsibility and student union autonomy – where’s the line?
I look into this question looking at a recent example of an direct intervention into student union affairs by an institution and offer my predictions of what the York University Ombudsperson’s review of the York Federation of Students election could mean for student unions in Ontario. I expect this column will go live Friday, it could be Monday depending how long it takes to research.
You can read both columns when they go online at my GlobeCampus page: www.globecampus.ca/joeycoleman

Sounds fascinating. We are undergoing our own election controversy at UVic. The Ann Coulter issue reminds me of the furor regarding pro-life speaker Stephanie Gray coming to UVic for a debate last year.
The quick Coulter piece is up.

Quick story I threw together in about 50 mins. on production night when our asst. news editor wasn’t feeling well.
“Despite the university investigation, the York Federation of Students (YFS) ratified the election results at a board meeting on March 23, with a motion that also stated that the election ballots would be destroyed.”
Waaaait a minute! Now why would the YFS want to destroy ballots? Doesn’t that seem like a fishy and suspicious motion? I wonders if the motion for destruction of ballots would have to do with the University’s investigation?
