Cleaning up my Google Reader

I’m cleaning up my Google Reader has I prioritize my feeds to reflect the topics and beats I presently cover.

One of my folders held a large list of “student blogs” which collected the feeds of various post-secondary student bloggers. Looking at the list, I realized that as the popularity of Facebook and Twitter increased, the number of updated blogs decreased.

The other thing I noticed, there’s a lot less discussion of student politics on blogs compared to the peak that occurred during the 2006/07 and 2007/08 academic years.

That said, the blogs that are still out there are of a much better quality and more informative than what existed a few years ago.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats to make announcement at Chamber of Commerce

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be speaking at Hamilton’s Chamber of Commerce later this morning.

The Tiger-Cats comments today will be the first time they’ve publicly spoke about the stadium since the City Council meeting of October 12.

It is unknown what the Tiger-Cats will say at this point. I’ll be at the event and will provide live updates throughout the morning.

The breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m. and runs until 9:00 a.m.

We could hear details of private sector funding which will help cut the stadium funding deficit which is presently at least $53.7 million.

Hamilton’s wards and polling districts

A couple of people are working on mapping Hamilton’s electoral Wards including polling districts within the Wards.

I’ll post links to the KML files (Google Earth) as they are completed. You can use the KML files in Google Earth to create your own visualizations of the election results. Alternatively, you can import the KML into a new “My Maps” in Google Maps and edit them there.
